Calm, observant, and harder to read than he thinks. Tim is supposed to help Malikah untangle her Khaos, but somewhere between professional boundaries and personal feelings, the lines start getting real blurry.
BIG DARNELL
The First Love
Malikah's first real love and one of the deepest roots in her story. Their history is complicated, messy, painful, and damn near impossible to separate from the woman she becomes.

The Son
Big Darnell’s son and another piece of Malikah’s complicated history. Young, observant, and caught in the middle of a world built by the adults around him.
Rose aka Ro
The Mother
Malikah’s mother. Strong, outspoken, and no stranger to Khaos herself. Their relationship carries love, history, hurt, and the kind of family shit that doesn’t disappear just because you grow up.

The Father
Malikah’s father and part of the family history that shaped her long before adulthood. His place in her story adds another layer to where Malikah comes from and the Khaos she carries with her.

The Brother
Malikah’s brother and another piece of the family history that shaped her long before she ever walked through the hospital doors.

The Brother
Malikah’s brother. Protective in his own way, with a presence rooted in family, loyalty, and the complicated world they came from.
JAS
The Nurse
A hospital nurse with a connection to Malikah that goes beyond the unit—she’s Tim’s sister. Friendly, observant, and close enough to the situation to see more than Malikah may realize.
TERRANCE
The Counselor
A hospital counselor and one of Tim’s boys. What starts as playful chemistry with Malikah quickly turns into tension, blurred intentions, and another complicated layer inside an already messy hospital dynamic.
Dr. JUAN ALEXA
The Administrator
A soft-spoken, polished hospital doctor and administrator who seems to know more about what’s happening on the unit than he lets on. He often finds himself somewhere between Malikah, Tim, and the rules they keep bending.

The Nurse
One of the day-shift nurses Malikah actually likes. Calm, steady, and hard to rattle, Rochelle handles Malikah’s attitude without taking her shit personally—even when Malikah is being Malikah.
TYASIA
The Familiar Face
A piece of Malikah’s past she never expected to find inside the hospital. Tyasia knew her long before she was Malikah—back when they were just Reese and Malik trying to survive Cottage Stables. Years later, they reconnect as two very different women carrying some of the same old scars.
STAR
The Frenemy
Malikah’s hospital “sissy”—part friend, part problem, and never quite somebody she can fully trust. Star listens when Malikah needs somebody, gets close enough to learn her business, then moves in ways that keep Malikah questioning whether she’s really a friend or just another bitch she should’ve never trusted.
CLARISSA
The Rival
Another patient with her own feelings for Tim—and absolutely no love for Malikah getting his attention. Jealousy turns into tension, tension turns personal, and before long, Clarissa is ready to fight over a man who’s supposed to be everybody’s damn therapist. From the staring to the slick shit, these two were never gonna be friends.

The Wife

Where the Story Began
In real life, she was Rita—birth mother to Saudia, Chink, and Sug. Within the pages of Soft Khaos, readers know her as Renee, mother to Malikah, Link, and Cane.
Saudia—author and creator Ny Dixon—turned pieces of her real life, family, memories, pain, and Khaos into the story told throughout this series. While names and parts of their lives were changed for the books, the people and the memories behind them were very real.
Pictured here is Rita with her son Sug, known to readers as Cane. Both have since passed, but their presence remains woven into the family, the memories, and the story that became Soft Khaos.
